What is Photonic Therapy?
Photonic Therapy is a natural therapy promoting the body’s own immune responses, it’s own methods of controlling pain and it’s own healing abilities. There are no needles and no drugs. It is the use of monochromatic red light from super luminous diodes, not a laser. We stimulate electro sensitive spots on the skin including those usually called acupuncture points. Our treatment can relieve pain of any origin and most health problems.
Photonic Therapy is the application of a safe , noninvasive, painless, beam of light (photons of broadband, single coloured light) of a designated wavelength to activate or produce particular physiological results based on applied neurophysiological principles.
Photonic Therapy is the most advanced of these methods that has been used to successfully treat thousands of cases both animals and people painlessly and without the risks associated with skin penetration.

What can Photonic Therapy do?
Photonic Therapy treatment consists of stimulating skin areas, two or three times weekly, for 5 seconds per point. Usually only six to eight treatments are required for most conditions. The longer the condition has existed, the larger the number of treatments that may be required. Young children require less stimulation than adults and only require two to four seconds per point. As the treatment is totally safe and painless, longer treatment times will not do any harm, but longer times will not cause the body to heal any faster.

What will happen when my horse is treated?
You may notice some or all of a number of features, which range from the horse drawing up his flanks, raising his tail, quietly passing wind, or dropping his head and becoming sleepy.
After diagnosing a problem and then treating the horse, you should be able to go back over the tender or reactive points and notice a reduction in the reaction. Within 48 hours or after the second treatment, there should be a marked improvement even if the horse is not completely better.

Why stimulate the skin?
The skin is the largest organ of the body, comprising of about 16% of the bodies weight and has two main functions which are protection and sensory. Under the skin are connective tissues that concert any stimulation (pressure, temperature or certain form of light) to electrical impulses. When the skin is stimulated, the information is conveyed to the brain electrically by the nerve cells.

What is an acupuncture point?
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese form of medicine and healing, which involves the insertion of fine needles at pre-selected points. Modern advances have included electro-acupuncture, point injection, transcutaneous, electro-neural stimulation, laser therapy and the placement of magnets on selected points.
An acupuncture point is an area of the skin of increased electrical conductivity, the stimulation of which can change the body’s function by releasing chemicals from the brain.

Why stimulate with red light?
The energy of light (photons) is transformed into electrical energy by the connective tissue under our skin. This electrical energy is transmitted to the brain by the nerves. Stimulating specific combinations of points on the skin will cause the brain to release particular hormones and other chemicals to relieve pain, increase immune response and promote healing.

The effects of light in tissue have been studied for 40 years but were not fully understood until the Nobel Prize winners of 1989 explained them, and the diodes we use were not commercially available before 1990. Photonic Therapy is an Australian concept of complementary medicine, based on research published in 1996 by Dr. Brian McLaren. It is the most exciting advance of the decade in health care, because it is simple, safe, scientific and successful.

The McLaren Method of Diagnosis and Therapy utilizes broadband 660nm red light to provide the photons required to painlessly and safely stimulate tissue. Visible light is a small part of the electro magnetic spectrum and ranges between 400-700nm. Wavelengths below 400nm (ultra violet) have high energy and do not penetrate deeply into tissue and can cause damage, such as melanomas. Above 700nm in the infrared light, there is less energy per photon and longer treatment times are required.
